Grant Lu is a prominent materials scientist, originally from Ottawa, Canada. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Manchester in 1976, was in the Rutgers School of Graduate Studies – New Brunswick class of 1980, and earned his Ph.D. in Ceramic Engineering from Rutgers University in 1982. Lu has held key roles in industry and research, including working as a ceramic engineer at the Naval Research Laboratory, a visiting scientist at MIT, and as a manager at Norton Company. He is a member of the American Ceramic Society (coordinating editor 1985-87) and the Society for Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. He has been listed in Marquis Who’s Who for his contributions to materials science.
