Robert Balog was awarded the 2011 Rutgers University Distinguished Engineer Award for his pioneering work in photovoltaic energy conversion.
Professor Balog received his BSEE Degree from ECE Rutgers in 1996 and his MSEE and PhD Degrees from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He was recently elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).
He is an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M. His research interests include Advanced Energy Systems, Distributed dc power systems with emphasis on local/distributed control, Low cost inverter system for use with alternative fuel sources (ex, Fuel Cell), Auto-tuning coupled inductor filters, High quality PWM amplifiers with focus on application as an audio amplifiers, Battery life management, Non-linear control techniques.
